Welcome to Shop The Coop! My name is Melonie, and this site is for people who have chickens as pets!
Home to Cletis and Rudy, my Cochin and Silky Roosters. Dottie, who my grandma named after my late Aunt. Loretta, Delilah The forever broody hens, Helena and my frizzle hen. The flock has now grown to 21 total Chickens, with an addition of 14 new peeps this summer.
Inky and Mabel my Cochin girls are still doing well. Loretta has been broody for 2 weeks now, and Helena has mothered my new silky blue and splash peeps. They are already eating corn! Many of my chickens are in the pictures and the logo's for the site, if you want to see them.
I started Shop the Coop for several reasons. One being to raise some money to do some research on Marek's disease, which I lost all my chickens to years ago. The other reason I started Shop The Coop is because I invented, sought out, and have made many of the products on this site as a solution for pet chicken owners. You don't always think about all the things that go into raising chickens until your knee deep in it (literally!) It is always frustrating to hear people say
"you have pet chickens? Do you eat them? Why Chickens? Do you eat the eggs?" And so it goes as a pet chicken owner...
I want to take a minute to thank each of my customers over the past 6 years, for the many orders, encouraging feedback and to all of you who placed even more orders this year! I look forward to donating as much as I can to many animal charities each and every year!
Shop The Coop has donated several thousands of dollars to 5 Animal Friends/ Poultry Organizations! (This is exciting)

Broken Items:
If you receive your item(s) and anything is broken please email me and attach a picture of the broken item. I will send you a new item, and file a claim with the appropriate shipping company. USPS and UPS occasionally do break the heaters and bulbs, despite the careful job I do packing your items! email:

Shipping:
Items in stock will ship within 1 week. Nesters that are handmade by the Amish may take several weeks. You can email me if you want to know what we have in stock.
Organic feed comes wrapped carefully in sacks, with the nutrition content included, and ships
immediately upon order. Some items may ship at different times, however we have combined shipping costs for your convenience.
Returns:
Please send us an email, and we will send our return address.
